D Mrs. AIR MAIL 1 E, January 9, 1943 liss. Ruth Guthrie Forest Daum, 286 Cleveland Avenue, Ashland, Ohio. Grate h hay dear Mrs. Daumas = In Oetober you responded to our suggestion conceraing the e possibility of serving in Hawaii and returned the application form 1219. We are now recruiting more nurses for this service and are F interested in cheeking over your credentials. We note thet you have boen employed as a Publie Health nurse since 1922. As the Haweiian Nursing 0 Service is all staff mursing in emergency civilien hoopitals, we wonder T if you would feel qualified for this type of service. We feel that it is almost obligatory for a nurae to have had some recent institutional es experience in order to be ap-to-date with our nursing procedures and be eligible for a staff nursing appointment. Perhaps your Public Health + experience has included some bedside nursing. We shall be glad to hear from you as to your own opinion con- cerning your eligibility. We would like to complete appointments within the next two months. We want you to know, however, that it is ex- clusively institutional nursing and that there is no opportunity for Public Health nursing as such. Thanking you for your interest and cooperation, I an Very truly yours, (Mrs.) Ernestine B. Amick I Assistant to Director EBA/hd Nursing Service I J
