Mr. L. E. Lord, A.R.C., 222 Fourth Ave., N.Y.
January 11, 1919.
Mr. W. D. Smith, Director - Bureau of Foreign Personnel.
Jane A. Delano:-
Will you please advise whether you recollect
knowing personally or hearing of any difficulty experienc-
ed by Miss Jane A. Delano, Director - Department of Nurs-
ing, National Headquarters, obtaining her passport when
she sailed for France on the U. S. Transport George Wash-
ington?
I have been requested by the General Manager to in-
vestigate a rumor which has reached his ears to the effect
that Miss Delano was put to serious trouble ind inconvenience
in locating her passport, eventually finding it at the Y.M.C.A.
in New York.
All our records and recollections at this office flat-
ly contradict this rumor.
Any information you can give on this matter will be
very much appreciated, as will be a prompt response.
