City
Doar Genoral Winter:-
I was exceedincly glod to have your fine letter to the Now York
Times. I read the letter in the paper and moant to bring it dovm to this
office for just the use you suggest. Unfortunately the paper was mislaid
and I was unable to get it, though I spoko to them here about it and it is
4
possible thoy may have secured it. However, we now have your letter which
I am sure we will be very glad to use. Miss Delano's death takes from the
w
Rad Cross one of the very finest personalities we have ever had connected
0
with it and it will be impossible to replace hor. Hor patriotic and unselfish
service was inspired not only by the highest ideals but with a rare practical
common sense which made the work she did of such real value.
We are 1 oping to have a momorial the Continental Memorial
Hall of the D. A. R. on Wednesday evening May 7the at whichwe hope the Surgeon
General's Óffice will be well ropresented but of this you will have due and
formal notification a little later. I will see about having the letter published
in the Magasine.
With mony werm rogurds and many thanks for your appreciation of
Miss Pelano, I ame
zours sincerely,
