This letter has been sent to Miss Minnigerode, Miss Stimson and
Miss Nevins.
August 25,1920
Mrs. Lena Higbee, Supt.
Navy Nurse Corps,
Navy Department,
Washington, D.C.
My dear Mrs. Higbee:
A cable has just reached me from France, and
/
also a communication from the War Department, stating that Miss
Delano's body will be forwarded on the transport SHERMAN, leaving
St. Nazaire on September first. In all probability I bhall not
be here, as 1 am leaving täshington shortly after the first of
the month preparatory to sailing for France. Miss Ida F. Butler
will be acting for me during my absence. It seems highly desirable
that a small committee representative of the Government departments
maintaining nurse corps, as well as representing the National Com-
mittee, should be appointed. May I not hope that you will serve
upon this small committee and assist Miss Butler in making such ar-
rangements as may be necessary for the burial, which we expect will
be at Arlington. Miss Butler will keep you advised.
Very truly yours,
Director, Department of Nursing.
