the birds were singing their welcome.
The men bowed ceremoniuusly while the
women nodded to us with the familiarity of old friends -
It was the uniformof the Red Cross Nurse!
Pointing out on the slope of the little hill
a beautifully appointed spot over-looking the valley through
which the gentle streams were flowing, surrounded by rolling
hills and long stretches of freshly cultivated land, dotted
by windmills -"cette petite bretonne" left us to our own.
It is here that "old Glory" floats high over the
white crossesof three hundred graves which mark the last
resting places of those we love so much. At the foot of the
slope the grave of Miss Delano, surrounded by graves of
her nurses and the soldiers she loved so well, and for
whom she died, was covered with the heautiful lowers
of Spring which the nurses in Paris so carefully selected.
In all its grandeur we left that paradisical
country feeling that our Great Creator, especially selected
in all its lovliness, this spot for Miss Delano's last
resting place - midst the things she loved the most
she rests in peace and quiet.
