My dear Miss Boardman:
2
The attached correspondence is self-
explanatory. I am sure you will recall the discussion at a
Meeting of the National Committee on Red Cross Nursing Service
held early in 1931, at which a resolution was passed, asking
you to present the question of the erection of the monument on
the grounds of National Headquarters of the American Red Cross
to the Executive Committee.
This point has never been definitely
settled. Inasmuch as the fund is rapidly approaching $25,000
and the Committee has decided not to wait until the full amount
is in hand before beginning the work, I have been asked by the
Committee to bring the matter to the attention of the Red Cross
in order that this important preliminary may be settled one way
or the other, so as to avoid delay and misunderstanding later.
May I, therefore, ask you not only as a
member of the National Committee on Red Cross Nursing Service
but as Secretary of the American Red Cross to be good enough to
bring this matter to the attention of the Executive Committee?
You will note that Judge Payne has sent the correspondence and
the letter to me. I will speak to him about it, and tell him
that I am referring the matter to you, as Secretary of the Red
Cross.
Very truly yours,
Clara D scayed
Member, Delano Memorial Committee.
