Miss Harriette Sheldon Douglas
4 Rue de Chevreuse
Paris, France
My dear Miss Douglas
Your letter of June 28 th has just been received.
If you come back to this country on the 3rd of August I shall not
see you at all, unless I catch a glimpee of you when passing thru
Paris enroute to Geneva.
It is our expectation to sail on the Rochambeau
which leaves this country on July 15th, and is due in Havre on the
23rd, and we are due in Ge eva on the morning of the 25th. We hope
to reach there the evening of the 24th if possible, so all we shall
do.in Paris is to get a train direct. After the meetings, which
consume & week, and perhaps somewhat longer 88 the Board generally
holds executive sessions immediately after a conference, we shall
probably go down to Tours, taking an automobile trip thru the
chateau country, then on to Bordeaux to see the Nursest Memorial
School, then back to Paris, completing you will see the four sides
of a. square.
I will telegraph to you from Havre, letting
you know the train and the station where we arrive, altho you will
probably be able to find this out in Paris from the office of the
Steamship Line. They-can tell you when the steamer docks and when
the boat train leaves Havre for Paris. It would give me great
pleasure to find you on the platform awaiting me, for I know we
shall probably need some assistance. Everything always seems so
confused in those great railway statione.
AB I am planning to return on August 27th,
on the Savoie, my visit to Paris will probably be around the 19th
or 20th, or poesibly not until the 22nd. Do try and get return
transportation on the Savoie, I should be delighted to have you
with us. Miss Eldredge and 1 have return transportation on the
same boat, the others, i.e., Miss Clayton, Miss Francis and Mies
Lawler, of the Johns Hopkine, are returning somewhat earlier.
So much for this. Paris without you, however, would be a rather
desolate place for me.
