Miss Harriette S. Douglas,
c/o Equitable Trust Company,
41 Rue Camban,
Paris, France..
My dear Miss Douglas:
Ever since your lovely Christmas card, with
the exquisite handkerchief arrived I have wanted to sit down and
write you a letter of than 3 and good wishes for the coming new
year. I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate your
thought of me, the card was one of the most beautiful I have ever
seen, and for that matter so was the "hankie". It was very sweet
of you to remember me. Christmas now seems very l'ar in the back-
ground, but it has taken me a long time to catch up with my
Christmas correspondence, and you will be surprised I am sure to
learn th t only this morning I received four Christmas cards and
one delayed present, so you can see I have Christmas for a long
time. There is nothing that gives me greater pleasure than to
receive messages from the members of our "ed Cross family, not
only in the United States, but who are scattered throughout all
parts of the world.
Many people have spoken of you to me
recently. I was over in New York last week and saw Florence
Johnson, and she told me she had you in mind for two things -
one to be on her medical social service staff, and the other was
the National Office of the St. barnabas Build, so that/you are
thinking of coming home it looks as if there might be something
available for you, if not immediately perhaps soon after your
arrival. In any case I thought you would appreciate knowing
that people thought of you and wanted you.
We had a week of eetings in New York City
in connection with the three National Nursing Associations, and
FO really accomplished a great deal. A much better understanding
is being developed and the American Nurses' Association is being
greatly strengthened by the position which is being taken especially
by the N.O.P.H.N. that there should be but one professional associa-
tion and that the A.N.A., and that the N.O.P.H.N. should gradually
become an organisation for ublic health nursing, having a member-
ship of people who were int rested in community work.
