OUTLINE OF PROFESSIONAL LIFE.
ALICE FITZGERALD R.N.
Educated in France, Switzerland and Germany by governesses,
tutors and in Private Schools.
Graduated at the Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Nursing in
1908 , remaining there to fill several positions.
To Bellevue Hospital in New York City to reorganize the Operating
Rooms.
To the General Hospital in Wilkes Barre Pa. as Superintendent of
Nurses.
To the Robert Long Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana as Superinten
dent of Nurses; organized the nursing school connected with
Indiana University.
Summer course at Teachers College Columbia University New York.
In charge of the health of the students at Dana Hall Wellesley
Mass.
In 1915 was appointed the Edith Cavell Memorial Nurse from Massaia
chusetts by a Boston Committee andbsailed for England February
1916.Was enrolled in the British Military Nursing Service and saw
very active service in France with the B.E.F.
In 1918 I reported to the Headquarters of the American Red Cross
in Paris and became assistant to the chief nurse and was sent to
organize work in Italy and different parts of France. Later I
organized and directed the Service connected with the French
Army which consisted in placing American Nurses in the french
hospital formations caring for Americans of the A.E.F.
After the Armistice I was named Chief Nurse of the A.R.C. for
the whole of Europe and directed nursing and relief work in
Poland, Checho Slovakia, Roumania, Austria, Hungary, Yugo Slavia
Albania which I visited to supervise work.
