My dear Miss Foto:
We have noted on your annual addrèss questionnaire your
indication of interest in foreign service and wonder if you would
be interested in serving with our Red Cross Unit in Hawaii.
Thirty-eight nurses are already on duty there and there is a
possibility of sending more nurses whenever we are able to obtain
transportation for theme
In that you have had a post. graduate course in Anesthesia
and are now employed in that field, you would be considered, of
course, for that type of service. However, due to the unpredictable
nature of foreign service, we should want you to know that you would
serve as a general staff nurse if necessarya We have recently been
informed that the anesthetists already in the service have been doing
nothing but anesthesia and perhaps some operating room work to date.
If you are interested in this service, will you please read over
very carefully the enclosed information and then wire me collect that
you are or are not interested and when you would be available. If
interested, please fill out and return the enclosed form as soon as
possible.
