My dear Mrs. Godley:
In the interest of maintaining an active enrollment,
our Red Cross Nurges are now classified into three reserves, as
explained on page 10 of ARO 703, as follows:
"First Reserve: Nurses under 40 years of age, un-
married, widowed or divorced, physically fit and
available for all types of service, including
military duty.
Second Reserve: Nurses over 40 years of age, or married,
but still active and available for all types of
service except military duty.
Third Reserve: Nurses no longer able to carry on any
type of Red Cross service for the reason that they
are physically disqualified. Nurses who fail to
keep their records active by responding to the
annual inactive questionnaire group. transferred third of reserve to their

We are indeed sorry that it has become necessary to
