My dear Mrs. Greet er:-
I am really quite touched by your
desire to accept active service at this time, and must
confess that I think you very courageous. I do not be-
liove that I should dags consider Hoal hospital service
mysolf, so appreciate your patriotism and offer.
I am referring your lotter to Miss Noyes, to
whom I have turned over the responsibility for the sele-
As
ction of musses, and feel sure that she will communicate
with you later should it soom possible to consider your
selection for service.
The surgoon General, both of the arm and the
navy, do hesitate to accept women for this service who
are much passed forty, but it is always possible that
exceptions may be made.
