N I e N M an T S S. 5. N September 25, 1/29. D an n ur 5 - Mrs. Nan Cox fare, Asst. to Nursing Field Rep.a e American Red Gross, Christiansted, St. Croix, V.I. D My dear Mr. Hare: ; C Ever since your assignment to the Virgin Islanda 0 J. I have intended writing you a word to tell you how pleased ve are to have you in our service. It is a long way from her to Christiansteil. hat does not mean, however, that ve are losing our interest in you R and the work blant you are trying to accomplish in that far away inland. Migs Gillette has written us about the difficulties that you have had in the schoola with the examinations, etc. From her account, however, it would look as if you were gradually getting the natter in hand. She also wrote to us at some lepgth on the subject of the Navy District Nursing Service. While it would not do to say so in the islands, nearly all of us have l'elt for many years that it would be of greater advantage of the inhabitants if this work were done by nurses who possess a good fundamental training in public health nursing. From all accounts it would look as 1f you had made a good stard in mony directions, and that you were carrying a Red Cross program that should ultimately be of considerable value to the community at large. liss Gillette tells us that four of the club girls have gone into the hospital for the three years! course in nursing. We have never heard very much about this courne. lould you not write to us and tell us more about it, give us somo idea of the subjects covered, the character of the applicant, preliminary eduentional requirements, ty e of work done during the peried of training and later? If thore is anything we can do to help you, please do not hesitate to call upon us. In any case write to us if you are feeling blue or depressed, for we ar always glad to help one of our workers over a hard place. Sincerely yours, N.H National Director, Nursing Service.
