I gather that there are many luncheons, dinners, card parties, dances, and the like and that our nurse is expected to join in with the others. The Red Cross ocoupies a position of prestige in the Islands and our nurses are ranked high socially by the Governor, in fact they are very much a big frog in a D small puddle.
