Their Battles While Smith
and Plattenberger Are
Given Draw
Savanna entries in the boxing con-
test at Chadwick Saturday evening
were given the decision in two or
the bouts and in two other events
were given a draw with their Chad-
wick opponents.
The four round bou't between Bud
Smith of Savanna and Kid Eisfeller
of Chadwick was called a draw,
Hardoil Schmidel was given the de-
casion in a three round bout with
Ben St. Clair, Pete Swingley won
the decision in his three round bout
with Bill Doty, and Big Boy Platten-
berger Tought a three round bout
with Kid Pascal to a draw.
Bud Smith hammered his oppon-
I
ent, Kid Eisfeller, for four rounds
in the first bout on the card. There
was plenty of action from the start
to the finish of the fight.
Three Rounds
€ After the first event the judges

cut the bouts to three instead of
a
four rounds because of the intense
heat.
- Next on the card was the bout
between Hardoil Schmidel and Ben
St. Clair. This bout kept the fans
on the edges of their seats during

the entire three rounds and St. Clair

knew he was in a fight when
a
Schmidel finished with him. Hard-
ti
on early won the decision.

Pete Swingley gave plenty of
gloves to Bill Doty, runner up in
the golden gloves contest, and won
the decision in three rounds.

Hard hitting and classy footwork

were displayed in the bout between
Big Boy Plattenberger and Kid Pas-
si
cal which was called a draw at the
end of the three rounds.
Joe Doll of Savanna refereed the
tights and E. J. Nichel of Savanna

was one of the judges and also the
assistant timekeeper. Jack Wentz,
who is home from Rockway Beach,
N. Y., seconded the Savanna entries.
A return bout is being arranged
between the Chadwick and Savanna
fäghters and will be held in Savanna
