miss Hay
Extracted from letter from Miss Hay to Col. Bicknell Mar. a. 1922,
"
MY RELEASE:- In my desire to serve as long as I am needed and at the same time
to stay on no longer, it would seem to me that my release by the middle or last of
May would be in order. Miss Nelson and Mrs. Vaughan will need to be in the field
the most of the time from now till July lst. By the last of May however most of
the nurses will be out of the field and the business of this office will be largely
a matter of routine which Mrs. Vaughan would be able to habdle very satisfactoryly.
While so far as I know now there is no necessity compelling me in this matter, yet
I should be glad to know that it met with your full approval for me to count on going
in May provided this was not interfering with the best interests of the work."
