born near Lanark, III. Miss Hay be-
came known as an organizer of nurs-
ing schools and hospitals. After
serving as chief nurse at Iowa State
hospital, Clarinda, Ia., she became
superintendent of the Pasadena hos-
pital at Pasadena. Callt., and then
superintendent of the Illinois Train-

ing School for Nurses at Chicago.
