Extracted from letter from Miss Hay to Miss 9/7/21.
"
GREECE II had never for a moment meant to compare the qualifications
of Miss Spelman and MrS. Heilman. While Miss Spelman is a conscientious worker
and gives herself most unsparingly she id by no means the leader and organizer that is
Mrs. heilman. She is not successful in directing other nurses and is apt not to get on
tactfully with men. I have talked with her about her defect in this regard which may
briefly be summed up as "fussyness" making too much of trifles to a degree that is
exceedingly irritating to others and that results in larger and more important points
being given less attention than they deserve."
