Mrs. Heilman Dies at 76;

whose 38-year Red Cross career
brought her honors in many parts
of the world. Mrs. Heilman, who
was the prototype for a prominent
character in Ernest Hemingway's
World War 1 novel "A Farewell
to Arms," died Wednesday eve-
ning in Somerset Hospital, Som-
erville, where she had been a pa-
tient for 11 days.
