My dear Miss Hibbard-
Just before leaving for the Philippines your application
for enrollment as a Red Cross nurse was sent to me from New York.
In the confusion of getting things in shape for an absence of five
months your application was not turned over to Mr.Magee with the other
papers. I cannot remember at this time whether there was any reason
for this or not, possibly I may have thought the papers were not
completed, and was rather appalled on my return to find the correspond
ence in regard to your application.
There was some discussion in regard to having on file
uniform application blanks and this may have been the reason for the
separation of some of the papers. I am; however, sending with this
your appointment card and pin with my sincere apologies for the delay,
While no definite rule has been made in regard to filing new applica-
tion blanks still it is a great convenience to us in filing papers
to have these blanks uniform. I cannot believe that anyone would
really object to this slight amount of writing and enclose with this
a blank form in case you are willing to send it to me. Kindly let me
know if the card and badge reach you safely. I enclose a postal card
for this purpose.
Very truly yours,
Chairman, National Committee on Red Cross
Nursing Service.
