My déar Miss Hobein:
I am very glad indeed to receive your letter
(b
of the 5th ultimo, requesting an application for en-
rollment in the Red Cross Nursing Service, and take
pleasure in sending with this, our circular of information
in regard to enrollment as well as a proper application
blank.
Will you please complete the application and
return it direct to this office when we will secure the
other necessary credentials and pass upon your eligibil-
ity for enrollment. I am sure however, that you
will be able to moet all our requirements, and hope to
have your application by return mail.
You will be interested in knowing, that Miss
Helen Scott Hay, under whom you received part of your
training at the Illinois Training School, was recently
here at Red Cross Headquarters as Director of the Bureau
of Elementary Hygiene and Home Care of the Sick and Act-
ing Director of Nursing for the Territorial and Insular
Division, which has jurisdiction over all foreign
countries.
Miss Hay was recently relieved from duty
in this office, however, to go into the offical of the
Surgeon General, to assist Miss Goddrich in the establish-
ment of the new Army School of Nursing.
As you know, we are most anxious to enroll all
American nurses living in foreign countries, who meet our
requirements, and shall be glad to have you send me the
names of any such nurses known to you who might be inter-
ested in enrolling.
Awaiting your application, and with my good wishes,
believe me as
Very sincerely yours,
Director, Department of Nursing.
