/ A 9 thes 5 rb s May 11, 1918. c Agnes Piukett Kloman, Board of Edudation, Targo, N. D. My dear Miss Kloman: Your letter, stating that you profer to do Public Heal th work has been referred to me for reply, as it is my duty to assign Public Heslth nurses. You state that you profer to do either cantorment zone work or Public Health work abroad as you have heen a Public Health nurse for 7 years. I am enclosing a Service enrollment Application blank which all persons going abroad under the Red Cross are ex- pested to fill out in detail. May I ask that you return it to me at your earliest conventeenterêth all questions filled out. At the present time, as far as I know, there are apt to be no vacancies in the sanitary zone, and we emnot promisa definite assignment on a given date to foreign service. How- ever, I think it will be probably possible to have everything ready to assign you in the neighborhood of July lst. There are many regulations which we are required by the government to comply with before anyone from the Red Cross can be sent to Europe. Nurses with brothers in the military service are not issued passports, so that your going is not entirely dependent upón your seléction and qualifications by the Red Cross Nursing Service. I will notify you upon receipt of your application whether or not it will be possible to give you an assignment for for- eign service. Thanking you for your interest in the Red Cross, I am, Very truly yours, LM/A
