Miss Clara D. Noyes
American Red Cross Nursing Service
Washington D. C.
My Dear Miss Noyes
I am enclosing with this my resignation
from the Colorado Red Cross Committee, but feel that I would like
to add just a personal note to you.
I have been connected with the Colorado
Committee since it was organized in 1911 and feel very proud of my
card signed by Jane A. Delano. My association with the various
members, who have come and gone and with National head-quarters has
always been very pleasant.
My service in France in 1918 -19 and the
privilege of knowing Miss Delano, when she was ill at Neuilly is a
cherished memory. I am glad too of having had the opportunity to
serve as Secretary of the Colorado Committee during our very busy
time of enrolling nurses for war service.
Later, when Miss Lettie G. Welch had to
give up the Committee work on account of ill-health I was glad to
take over the Chairmanship. Now I feel that the Chairman and the
members should be younger nurses, who are more closely connected
with Nursing Schools in order to keep in touch with each new class
that is being graduated and eligible for enrollment in the Red Cross.
There is one member of this Committee,
who has served as long as myself Mrs. Lathrop TayloR of Fort Collins.
She is always interested in the work and represents the Red Cross
Nursing Service in a community where there is no school of nursing.
I hope it will be your pleasure to continue Mrs. Taylor on the Colorado
Committee for years to come.
The other members now are connected with
active nursing work, either Public Health or Hospital and I feel that
we have a very strong and satisfactory Committee in Colorado.
For myself I am doing office work and
though much interested in nursing affairs I believe this is an opportune
time to give up the Red Cross Committee work. You may always be assured
of my loyalty and my support when it is needed and I appreciate having
known you through our many letters and hope our Red Cross friendship
may continue.
Yours very sincerely
alice Evangeline #884. Lake
