Miss Alice E. Lake,
Children's Hospital,
Denver, Colo.
My dear Miss Lake:
Your letter, offering your services with the Children's
Bureau, has been received, and I would be very glad to place
your name on our list of available nurses to sail about Sep-
tember 1st. I am today writing Miss Lettie Welch, Director
of the Mountain Division concerning your assignment, as there
are certain regulations and requirements which must be atten-
ded to through the division office before we may definitely
promise an assignment to a nurse.
I will be glad to have the letters of recommendation and
as soon as Miss Welch secures the other papers necessary we
will notify you definitely about your sailing. I am enclos-
ing A R C 702 and also form 584 concerning insurance for nur-
ses.
We are ne eding not only nurses for the Children's Bureau
but surgical nurses, and with your experience you would be
available for either one of these services. May I ask if you
prefer the service with the Children's Bureau to the Surgical
work.
Thanking you for your interest in the Red Cross and await-
ing your reply, I am,
