Miss Gladyee Badger
January 8, 1942
Director, Nursing Service
Pacific Area
Winifred M. LaLonde
Mary Board
Alpena, Michigan
Director of Nursing Service
(Hawaiian Service)
We have received a letter from Miss Winifred M. LaLonde, of
Alpena, Michigan, who is volunteering her service for the Army or Navy
to take effect immediately. She has just passed the age limit, so we
are submitting her name to you in the event you might wish to consider
her for the Hawaiian service. We have no information indicating how
successful she has been since her graduation. The following is the data
we have on record for her:
Badge No. 67724, date of birth, January 10, 1901; graduate
Herey Hospital, Bay City Michigan, 1935, affiliation Providence Hospital,
Detroit, Michigan, ten months, Public Health Course, Wayne University, 1937
(she does not indicate the length of this course but we judge that it was
taken at the time she was employed in the Public Health Field in Detroit.)
Her physical examination record, dated 1937, indicates that she was in good
health except for a slight injury to one eye which she had received in an
automobile accident sometime previously, at which time she also had a skull
fracture. Her experience includes private duty, general duty and Public
Health Nursing. According to her records she has done private duty and
Institutional work since 1940 and is at present employed in the Alpena General
Hospital.
We are advising Miss LaLonde that there is & possibility of
service in Hawaii and are asking her to complete the application record,
although we will not advise her to have a physical examination until you
get in touch with her. We will send her the forms, however, in the event
you wish to wire her.
