Miss Grayce Loidig
January 19, 1943
R.D. #2
Ovid, New York
4y dear Liles Leidig:
We are pleased to inform you that your application for enrollment
in the Red Cross Nursing Service has been approved and to welcome you as a
member of this service world wide in its significance and opportunity.
Enclosed herewith are instructions and your appointment card and
Badge No.
117,869 which are your credentials as a Red Cross nurse. Please
acknowledge receipt of these credentials by RETURN MAIL on the enclosed postal
card giving your badge number for verification.
Read the enclosures carefully and observe all instructions.
We are confident that you appreciate the great privilege of serving
as an American Red Cross nurse and the obligation of always maintaining high
standards of nursing.
Because of the EMERGENCY NATURE of the work of the Red Cross Nursing
Service, it is IMPERATIVE that you INFORM US AT ONCE of any condition which
may affect your status such as CHANGE OF ADDRESS, MARITAL STATUS, or PHYSICAL
CONDITION, and that you ANSWER IMMEDIATELY ALL COMMUNICATIONS from HEADQUARTERS,
your LOCAL COMMITTEE or the ARMY or NAVY.
Each year you will receive a questionnaire from the Red Cross Nursing
Service. We urge you to FILL THIS IN and RETURN IT PROMPTLY to the address given
on the questionnaire. Your failure to respond for two consecutive years places
you in the inactive classification in the Red Cross Nursing Service.
Sincerely yours,
Mary Beard
