Miss Florence E. Little,
261 County Road,
Barrington, Rhode Island.
My dear Miss Little:
Your name has been referred to us by Mrs. Mary Dohorty,
Secretary of your Local Committee, as one interested in submitting
your applic tion for the civilian nursing service in Hawaii.
We have checked your records and find that you have been
engaged in Public Health Nursing for a rumber of years. However,
there is quite a period, namely - from 1924 to 1937, during which
time no address questionnaire WE.S submitted, so that we have no re-
cord of your professional experience during that time.
The service in Hawaii is staff nursing in emergency civilian
hospitals; therefore, if you have been engaged in Public Health nurs-
ing for a number of years and have not done institutional work, you
might not feel qualified for this type of service. However, we shall
appreciate hearing from you concerning your interest in the program
and giving us at resume of your past professional experience to help
us to deteraine your eligibility. At present, there is no opening
for uplic Health es such. It is all institutional work, and we, of
course, feel that it is quite essential that to be eligible, nurses
have had recent institutional experience.
Very truly your
(Mrs.) Ernestine B. smick
Assistant to Director
EBA/hd
Nursing Service
P.O.- If you will please fill out end return the enclosed pink form (1.19)
