ass't to Director- muring Service
american Red cross,
washington
my dear mis. Douglas,
9 am mailing insignia
and caps to you under separate cover. It
has been a great disappointment to me
not to have completed my service to
the O.C.D. of Hawaii as I had hoped,
and also to have been dependant on them
so long for room and board. However,
I
have learned at long last why the
anny and navy turn down "appointly"
sound forty-five -year olders even the
physical records for twenty years of steady
work show sound physique
my sincere thanks go to all the
good people of american Red Cross who as-
sisted in getting me home to my family
miss Machachlin in Honolulu, miss Badger r mess
Olson in SanFrancisco- plus the Red Cross
welfare workers at Letternan general Hospital &
the transportation officer m Packard ; then a
miss Johnson of the new york city office who
helped with transportation facilities by train
to Concord, n.N ; and finally, the Concord
