33 an al + 5 Fin N.Y November 11, 1927. Mise Frances Maltby, The Colborne, 79 Washington Place, New York City. My dear Miss Maltby: Your letter of October 5th has remained unanewered much longer than À intended. Abeence from the city, however, for nearly three weeke on a western speaking trip, has made it impossible for me to reply to my corres- pondence ae promptly a.e 1 should like. I shall, indeed, be delighted to have your name on the title page as *co-author" and am writing to Funk & Wagnalls to that effect. 1 have always felt embarrassed about that book, for if there ie anything that I dielike to do is to "sail under false colors" and it has alwaye seemed to me quite wrong to have my name appear entirely as the author wi thout yours. never shall I forget the conditions under which I wrote read some of that manuscript - flat on my back on a ho-pital bed in New Bedford. However, that ie in the psst 80 why even refer to it? It was a pleasure, however, to hear that "Johnay" was selling well. 1 had hoped that it would be a popular booklet and would be ueed by large numbers of people. It was very nice to hear from you again and to know something of what you were doing. Mrs. Rogere asks for you occasionally and always speaks of you with real / affection. With best wiches for your succees, I am Very sinceroly yours, N.H National Director, aursing Service.
