Gentlemen:
The Presbyterian Hompital School of Nursing in the City of
New York is celebrating the Fiftioth Anniversary of the founding of
its School this year. As part of the anniversary exercises the
Alumae Association is hoping very nuch to be able d'arruage a
nemorial for Miss Anna C. Maxwell who was for many years the super-
intendent of nurses in this school. Miss Maxwell's body is buried
in the Spanish American Wer Nurses Section of Arlington Cometery as
she was the organizer of the nursing work at Sternberg Hospital,
Camp Thomas, Chickamauga Park. She seas buried in January, 1929 with
full military honoxs.
As Miss Macoroll was also very active in the development of the
Anny Nurse Corps it seens particularly fitting at this time when our
country is at ware that we should arrange if possible the exercises that
we are contemplating. lie would greatly appreciate it if parmission
could be granted for us to decorate hor grave and have a Military guard
of Honor with the sounding of taps.
IP you could give this request favorable consideration, we would
very much appreciate your helping us in making the necessary arrangements.
If I have not given you sufficient data to enable you to give the xe-
quest favorable consideration, ploase let me lonos as I am sure I will
be able to obtein whatevor additional information is necessary.
In appreciation of your help,
Sincerely yours,
Gertrude S. Banfield
