My dear Nisses Berrow, Nimmer, and Daven: Your letter of November 8 addressed to Mrs. Ernestine B. Amick has come to me as Mrs. Amick is not now in this office. She WB working with me at the tine your appeintmente to Hawaii were made, and I have followed very closely all of these assignments. I can appresiete why you may feel that you are not being used to the fullest of your capacities, as this has bsen the experience of a great many nurses in different parts of the world et one time or snother during this war only to find thenselves in the center of things at the next moment. I feel sure we expressed to you at the time of your appointment our recognition of difficulties and irregularities in the amount and type of the sork which would be required and at the sume time our confidence in the importance of matter of change or recignation ie one for you to decide in conference with those staffing these hospitals of the Emergeney Medical Service in Hawaii. The in charge of your work, although at the time of appointment we saked the nurses to be willing to accept the sseignments for the duration. There are at the present time no units being organized by the Ameriom Red Cross, end we do not anticipate requesta for such unita in the near future Te are to keep your namea on record as interested in service the time your services are no where at elsewhere least. pending glad made longer to needed stabilize you ere. Te feel confident that every effort is being the service in Havaii so that the proper staffing esn be mintained, and that you are going to be taking all of the factors which I have mentioned into consideration when making your decision.
