J.\nMy dear Miss McNamara:\nYour physical has been approved by our Red Cross medical advisor\nand we are now in a position to offer you an, appointment as Staff Nurse\nwith one of the civilian emergency hospitals in the Hawaiian Islands which\nis under the juri diction of the Emerg ney Medical and Hospital Service\nof The Territorial Office of Civilian Defense in the Territory of Hawaii.\nThis position carries the salary of $112.50 per month, including full\nmaintenance and the laundering of your uniforms. Your salary will start\nfrom the time you take your Oath of Office in San Francisco, as will\nalso the terms of your employment with the Office of Civilian Defense,\nin accordance with the employment regulations enclosed.\nAS you have noted, we have advised you to take your own hospital\ncape. However, we shall supply you with three Red Cross caps and eight\nRed Cross insignia to be worn on your uniforms. These are now being\nsent from our Supply Department and should reach you within & short time.\nThis equipment is in the form of a loan and you will be expected to\nreturn it to this office whenever you terminate your service there.\nThe required immunizations are smallpox, triple typhoid and tetanus\ntoxoid. If you have not been vaccinated for smallpox within the past year,\na\nrepeat vaccination is adiised. As both the tetanus and typhoid inocula-\ntions are given in a séries Covering several weeks, you will need to start\nthese at once. If your immunizations are not completed before you leave\nhome, arrange to take the medication with you, and if an inoculation comes\ndue while you are in San Francisco, please get in touch with Miss Gladyce\nBadger, Civic Auditoriun, Larkin & Grove Streets, who is in charge of our\nPacific Area Office, and who will make arrangements for this to be given.\nEnclosed are duplicate immunization forms. One is to be returned to this\noffice, the other you will. keep with you at all times. In case your in-\noculations have not been completed before you leave the Mainland, please\nreturn one immunization register to this office, indicating the time that\nthe series will have been completed.\nEnclosed please find the following:\n1.
