Miss Ella E. McNeil, R. N.
Director, Public Health and Nursing
S. E. Penna Chapter, The American Red Cross
1610 Locust Street
Philadelphia, Pa.
My dear Miss McNeil:
We shall look forward to your visit in August or
September with a great deal of pleasure. I believe the Ficld Repre-
sentatives are coming in on the 4th of September for a three days
conference on roll call. I do not know whether this would be a
good time for you to come or not, but I very much doubt it, as
none of us will have very much time to devote to you. If, however,
you can spend a sufficient period with us it might be desirable
for you to be here at that time in order to get the information which
every Chapter nurge should have as well as the Field Representatives
on their relations and duties in the coming roll call.
I was very glad to hear from your letter that you
were no longer being made responsible for First Aid and Life Saving.
There seens every reason why you should direct the Public Health
Nursing and the Home Hygiene and Care of the Sick and the general
Nursing activities of the Chapter. For example, if nurses were needed
for a disaster or for First Aid stations at a big convention or
parade, such work as this would pass through your hands - at least
the nursing aspects of it. As you are Secretary of the local Committee
you would be able to secure an adequate supply of Red Cross nurses
from your files. I will make no effort to go into the details of
this work as Secretary because it will be so much more satisfactory
to discuss them in conference rather than through the medium of corres-
pondence
Looking forward to seeing you sometime within the next
month or two, I am
Very sincerely yours,
National Director, Nursing Service
CDN-VB
