Miss Lucy Minnigerode,
MacMahan, Me.
My dear Miss Minnigerode:
The Manhattan Committee have placed your name on the list of nurses
selected, and I am sending wi th this the immunity certificate, and shall be
glad to receive the physical examination blank as soon as possible. It will
also be necessary for you to be vaccinated, but consult 12* local physician
concerning the advisability of undertaking both the anti-typhoid treatment and
smallpox vaccination at the same time.
I have no idea how soon the nurses will be called upon, but probably
within the next two weeks. Uniforms and equipment will be provided probably free
of expense, and nurses equipped in New York City. Kindly let me know how soon
you will return to New York.
Yours sincerely,
Chai rman National Committee
Red Cross Nursing Service.
