My dear Miss Noyes:
I have your letter advising me of my appointment
as chairman of the committee on Red Cross Nursing Ser-
vice for the District of Columbia. I am very much in-
terested in the work of this Committee as the Red Cross
has always been very dear to me. I shall do my best to
make as good a chairman as Miss Carmody did. She has
promised to help me and I look forward with pleasure to
the service.
