My dear Miss Boardman:
Needless to tell you I was very much
pleased to receive your letter telling me that
I had been awarded the Florence Nightingale Medal.
It is useless for me to try to express to you my
very deep appreciation of the honor which has
been conferred upon me through the American Red
Cross.
on the day of our meeting I was so overcome
that it was impossible for me to say at the time
what I felt about the recommendation which the
other members of the committee proposed to send.
I feel very strongly that the Florence
Nightingale Medal is the highest award that a
nurse, as such, can receive and it is the deco-
ration which I shall value above all other
recognition which I have had.
