Your application for foreign serfice
under the Red Cross has been received in this office. The Bureau o
of Personnel will send you definite instructions concerning your
date of sailing, and may 1 request that you do not proceed to New
York until you have received these instructions.
I am enclosing circulars of informa-
tion which give you detailed instructions concerning equipment,
insurance, etc. Your Division Director will send you Immunity slips
which you will kindly have filled out and returned to this office
at the completion of your treatments.
The term of service is for such a
period as you may be required, probably one year. Requests for re-
lease before the termination of this period cannot be considered,
except for serious reasons such as ill health.
You are allowed salary which is $70.00
per month from date of leaving home to date on which you are booited
to sail. If you are heddd in New York after that thime, the addition-
al salary will be paid after you reach your destination. During this ti
time, as you are in the employment of the lied Cross, you will be ex-
pected to perform such service as may be assigned to you by the Div-
ision Director of Nursing at 44 East 23rd Street. You may make such
allotment as you may desire of your salary before leaving. this country-
this is accomplish after reaching New YOrk. After sailing, however,
there can be no change made in the mithod of payment of salaries.
Forms for this purpose will be rovided after reaching New York.
You should report as soon after arrival
in New York as possible (to Miss Florence Johnson at 44 East 23rd Street,
Miss Johnson is the representative of the Nursing Parvice, and will see
that you received your equipment, and will direct you to the Bureau of
personnel for necessary information concerning your passport, transport-
ation. insurance, and allètment.
One nurse in each group is selected by
Miss Johnson as the Head Nurse, and she acts as such until they arrive
at their destination, and report to the office of the Director of the
Nursing Dervice for the Commissione
