N I February 10, 1943 VIA AIR MAIL AREA OFFICE AND etem COMMITTEE ADVISED Miss Helen Miriam Nimmer NOV 1 0 1943 All Saints Hospital Fort Worth, Texas 3 My dear Miss Nimmer: Your physical has been approved by our Red Cross medical advisor and we are now in a position to offer you an appointment as staff nurse with one of the civilian emergency hospitals in the Hawaiian Islands which is under the jurisdiction of the Energency Medical and Hospital Service of the Territorial Office of Civilian Defense in the Territory of Hawaii. This position carries the salary of $112.50 per month, including full maintenance and the laundering of your uniforms. Your salary will start from the time you take your Oath of Office in San Francisco, as will also the terms of your employment with the Office of Civilian Defense, in accordance with the employment regulations enclosed. As you have noted, we have advised you to take your own hospita] cape. However, we shall supply you with three Red Cross caps and eight Red Cross insignia to be worn on your uni fforms. These are now being sent from our Supply Department and, should reach you within a phort time. This equip- ment is in the form of a (loan and you will be expected to return it to this office whenever you terminate your service there. The required immunizations are smallpox, triple typhoid and tetanus toxoid. If you have not been ivaccinate for smallpox within the past year, a repeat vaccination is advised. As both the tetanus and typhoid inoculations are given in a series covering several weeks, you will need to start these at once, If your immunizations, are not completed before you leave home, arrange to take the medication with you, and if an inoculation comes due while you are in San Francisco, please get in touch wi th Miss Gladyce Badger, Civic Auditorium, Larkin & Grove Streets, who is in charge of our Pacific Area Office, and who tion forms. One is,to be returned to this office, the other you will keep with will make arrangements for this to be given.
