Noyes,\nDeceased, Former Director,\nNational Nursing Services\nEarly in January we had a letter from Miss Blanche Pfefferkorn,\nof Los Angeles, California, asking that we secure for her\ninformation regarding Clara D. Noyes's family background for\ninclusion in the biographical article which she is preparing\nfor the Dictionary of American Biography. January 27 I visited\nMiss Noyes's sister, Mrs. Laura N. Purcell, who lives at\n1411 - 29th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. Mrs. Purcell gave\nme considerable information about her sister's family background.\nWhile I was there, Mrs. Purcell showed me a number of medals\nwhich had been awarded to her sister and offered them to the\nAmerican Red Cross for the Museum. Mrs. Purcell said that she\nhad several boxes of personal papers which belonged to her\nsister and she would like to have those placed in the Museum\nalso. I told Mrs. Purcell that I would refer her offer to\nMrs. Laura dizerega, curator of the Mussum, who would probably\nwant to visit her, look over the material and select that\nwhich would be appropriate for the Mussum. Mrs. dizerega\nwas ill soon after my visit to Mrs. Purcell, hence there was\na delay in referring the matter to her. Since that time Mrs.\ndiZerega has been exceedingly busy preparing for displays in\nconnection with the 75th anniversary and has found it impossible\nto give the time required for a visit to Mrs. Purcell.\nSince Mrs. Purcell's telephone call to you yesterday, I have\ntalked with Mrs. dizerega who will make an effort to visit\nMrs. Purcell next week.\nJeanie L.
