N 0 mra diverege Mr. Bunker March 16,1956 Jeanie L. Adkerson Mrs. Laura N. Purcell, Sister of Miss Clara D. Noyes, Deceased, Former Director, National Nursing Services Early in January we had a letter from Miss Blanche Pfefferkorn, of Los Angeles, California, asking that we secure for her information regarding Clara D. Noyes's family background for inclusion in the biographical article which she is preparing for the Dictionary of American Biography. January 27 I visited Miss Noyes's sister, Mrs. Laura N. Purcell, who lives at 1411 - 29th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. Mrs. Purcell gave me considerable information about her sister's family background. While I was there, Mrs. Purcell showed me a number of medals which had been awarded to her sister and offered them to the American Red Cross for the Museum. Mrs. Purcell said that she had several boxes of personal papers which belonged to her sister and she would like to have those placed in the Museum also. I told Mrs. Purcell that I would refer her offer to Mrs. Laura dizerega, curator of the Mussum, who would probably want to visit her, look over the material and select that which would be appropriate for the Mussum. Mrs. dizerega was ill soon after my visit to Mrs. Purcell, hence there was a delay in referring the matter to her. Since that time Mrs. diZerega has been exceedingly busy preparing for displays in connection with the 75th anniversary and has found it impossible to give the time required for a visit to Mrs. Purcell. Since Mrs. Purcell's telephone call to you yesterday, I have talked with Mrs. dizerega who will make an effort to visit Mrs. Purcell next week. Jeanie L. Adkerson Assistant National Director Nursing Services JLA:SD ec Mrs. diZerega
