N CL -2- S I spent a week in New York recently and saw quite a lot of Miss Johnson and Dr. Seymour. The latter is really much better although it is very difficult for her to get about. Ne managed to go to the theater one night in spite of a heavy snow stora, remnants of M which were evident in New Xork when I want through early in the morning to attend a meeting of the Connecticut State Nurses Association on the e 6th, where I had a busy day, going over to New daven for the evening to s speak to the seniors, taking the midnight back. Miss Taylor accompanied me as she and I were both due at Commi ttee on nursing of the Economic Security Act. We sat from ten ofclock in the morning until six 6'clock e in the evening, going over reports, recommendations, et cetera. This is a busy life we are leading now and none of us know where we are coming out. We only know that our country is terribly in debt, our taxes are high and the program of Public Works hag, gartainly been, as David Lawrence said, the greatest blunder that was, made in any generation. I hope this letter will not be censured by Uncle Sam. I imagine Mr. Farley has as much as he can do to get back the stamps which he gave away so he will probably not look at this letter. I au well and so is Lucy Lay and best of all our dog, a lovely little wire-haired terrier, has nade a good recovery from an appendicitis operation. We certainly thought that we were going to lose him but he is all right now. With best wishes and hoping that you are planning a furlough before long, I remain as always Sincerely yours Clara D.
