N CL triat. January 9, 1932. 5 Miss Christine Nuno, c/o St. trake's Hospital, M Tokyo, Japan. e s My dear Miss Nuno: Apologies for not writing to you sooner to thank you for the vory lovely card case which you sent to me at Christmas. It is really very beautiful and I shall enjoy using it, not only because of its beauty but because you sent it to me. I also received your Christmas card, with its little note on the back and your letter of the first of November. You will be interested to know that Miss Hagiwara sent ne a very lovely card and also a battledore and shuttlecock, most delightfully packed in a wooden box. They certainly know how to pack things well in that country. The battledore is most unusual one. While I doubt if I over get expert in its use, Lucy Lay is already having a beautiful time with it. By the way, in writing my letter of thanks, I mentioned the situation in Japan and went so far as to suggest that Korea be allowed to come in in the same manner that England has allowed her possessions to enter and we have allowed the Philippine Islands. I do not know whether anything will come of it but I do not see how we can accept Japan unless she carries out our suggestion made in Montreal, either a Federation or admission on a separate basis. In your little note of the first of November, you gave me a lot of news regarding appointments, et cetera. You have quite a large American staff which I an sure means a great deal to the hospital, as well as to the individuals who are there. It is hard to work out problems in a foreign country unless you have an ample stock of teachers and supervisors who know what you are trying to accomplish. I saw Miss Johnson, Alts Dines and Mary Roberts last month as they all came here to the meeting of our National Committee. It was very nice to see themand thay certainly added & great deal to the w interest of the meeting. I cannot stop now to write to you at any length as it is Saturday morning and there is no end of work to be done but I will try after your board mesting to write you a real letter. Again accept my appreciation for your delightful gift and 2 with best wishes for a Happy New Year, I am Sincerely yours, NaR National Numetno
