Lt. Colonel Ruby F. Brgant
Assistant Superintendent of Nurses
ANMY Nurse Corps
Headqu rters Fourth Service Command
Post Office Building
a
Atlanta 3, Georgia
Hy dear Colonel Rbyant:
We have just had a letter from Miss Carolyn
Lucille 0'Connor written from The Village Hotel, Washington
at Espanola, Miemi Beach 39, Florida, indieating that she
has applied for an appointment with the Army Nurse Corps
through the Fourth Service Command.
Miss 0°Connor was one of the nurses who served
with the O.C.D. Unit in Hawaii and was released from this
unit because of unsuitability and disorderly conduct.
I interviewed her personally last summer when
she one to Washington to see about being reinstated in
the Red Cross Nursing Service. She seems to be a highly
emotional, unstable individual and even though she did
not have a justionable record back of her, I would
definitely question her suitability for military service.
I have just written her, a copy of hich
letter I am enclosing.
I hope that you do not offer her an appoint-
ment without very careful investigation. She denies the
charges that were made against her in llawaii but le have
pretty good evidence that she over-indulged in alcohol.
Sincerely yours,
Gertrude S. Banfield
