We accordingly wired the American Red Cross Chapter in Santa
Monica, Calif., to secure Miss O'Connor's brother's permission to send

her there. The Santa Monica Chapter replied that Miss 0'Connor's brother
would be delighted to have her. We purchased a ticket and pullman reser-
vation to Santa Monica, Calif., and Miss O'Connor was placed enroute 1/6/43.
Before leaving she signed the enclosed statement stating she had been
offered transportation to New York City, and had refused it.
The following expenses were incurred during Miss O'Connor's
