To Whom It May Concern:
c.
On my arrival in San Francisco from Honolulu on January 1, 1943
I contacted the San Francisco Chapter of the American Red Cross who took

care of my living expenses until January 6, 1943.
The San Francisco Chapter, American Red Cross explained to me

that they had been authorized to pay my expenses to New York. They offer-
ed me a ticket and pullman accommodations and $25.00 in cash, $12.50 of
which was to be given me when 1 reached Chicago. AS 1 did not wish to
go
to New York .did not accept this offer; I requrested transportation to
Santa Monica, California and the American Red Cross purchased a railway
ticket for me to Santa Monica, California to enable me to go to my brother,
W.J. O'Connor, 859 25th St., Santa Monica. I am therefore leaving San
Francisco, and the San Francisco Chapter, American Red Cross has no further
responsibility for my care or transportation.
