The other day Miss O'Connor was finally placed on a boat
and sent back to the Mainland. OCD was gracious to her and put

collected $10.00 on a personal loan which I made when I bailed her
out of jail. She maintains that she sent a check for the other
$15.00 but I don't think she did. OCD agreed to pay her expenses

from San Francisco to New York; however, since I wouldn't trust her
with that much money in San Francisco (she is just as apt to spend
it all and insist on having her way paid), I wrote a letter to Mr.
Shaffer asking him to see that a ticket was bought for her and that
she was put on the train. Mr. Shaffer will then send us a statement
of the amount, and I shall collect from the OCD to reimburse the
Pacific Area office. This was all previously arranged with OCD.
We are very happy to have her leave. She wasn't doing the Red Cross
any good.
