M Mikchue HAWAII CHAPTER AMERICAN RED CROSS MEMO at TO: Mr. L. M. Mitchell DATE: December 28, 1942 FROM: Allan W. Houghton SUBJECT: Nursing 5 The other day Miss O'Connor was finally placed on a boat and sent back to the Mainland. OCD was gracious to her and put a ability. her record However, that the she main had to go back because personal of physical conduct. dis- on reason was of her I c. have collected the $200.00 sub advance thet she owed us, and I have collected $10.00 on a personal loan which I made when I bailed her out of jail. She maintains that she sent a check for the other $15.00 but I don't think she did. OCD agreed to pay her expenses e from San Francisco to New York; however, since I wouldn't trust her with that much money in San Francisco (she is just as apt to spend it all and insist on having her way paid), I wrote a letter to Mr. Shaffer asking him to see that a ticket was bought for her and that she was put on the train. Mr. Shaffer will then send us a statement of the amount, and I shall collect from the OCD to reimburse the Pacific Area office. This was all previously arranged with OCD. We are very happy to have her leave. She wasn't doing the Red Cross any good. Administration Allan W. Houghton Recid 1/11/4= Prh
