My dear Miss Ralph:
T
We are sending you a copy of the latest News Release. You
may be contacted by the press and with permission of your present
employer, it will quite alright to discuss your appointment to
the Harvard Unit.
lie would like to have the following information: your full
name;age; religion; and also the name and address of your nearest
relative, stating relationshpp. Your ramily will be notified of your
arrival in England and it is the present intention of Harvard University
to issue a monthly report to them. Mail may be sent to the American
Red Cross Heddquarters, London, England. It will be forwarded to us
from there.
To what address do you wish your uniforas sent? Please check
when you receive them for - 6 white uniforms with short sleeves, de-
tachable belt and buttons, emblem on left sleeve (American Red Cross -
Nursing); street uniforas - Red Cross Pin on each shoulder of short
coat, two A.R.C. pins on the collar of short and topcoat, emblem on
left sleeve of each coat midway between shoulder and elbow (American Red
Cross -- Harvard Unit). Clamp your bronze A.R.C. pins so that they do
not become unhooked and lost.
lie have decided to wear white shirt bloused with a black four-
in-hand tie to be supplied by the nurse. loys'sshirts are very suitable,
but a blouse with a convertible collar serves a double purpose - takes
the tie well and can be left open in summer. Three with long sleeves are
required. If you have any with short sleeves, bring them along. If you
have a steamer rug, you will rind it very useful and it can be strapped
to the outside of your luggage. A good suggestion is to have some kind
of purse or container that can be attached to your person to carry your
money and passport.
There may be some delay in obtaining passports until we know just
what boat we will be säiling on. So do not be disturbed if you fail to
receive yours shortly after application has been filed.
