Such vaccination certificate shall be preserved on file at the school by the principal, When pupil is transferred from oneschool to another in the city, the certificate of vaccination shall ac- company the transfer card. DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, CITY OF CHICAGO EXTRACT FROM THE RULES AND REGULATIONS CONCERNING VACCINATION. The Certificate of Successful Typical Vaccination is warranted and must be issued only when the resulting scar or cicatrix is not less than one- third of an inch in diameter, characteristically pitted and perfect in outline. Any departure from this standard cannot be accepted as a successful (typical) vaccination. While an operation resulting in a scar below this standard may confer a certain degree of protection, it is advisable to revaccinate where the departure is material. Nothing less than the "Typical" scar will warrant the Vaccinator in certifying to positive protection against smallpox. Anything less is evidence that the person was not properly vaccinated: or that the so-called vaccination was done with an impure or deteriorated vaccine; or that the physical condition was such as to prevent a full and perfect evolution of the protective process; or that the vesicle was broken or otherwise injured 80 as to interfere with In any such case operation of should be repeated to smallpox. until the normal development of the vaccinal phenomena. the the vaccinator is assured insusceptibility Insusceptibility to vaccinia in an unvaccinated subject is not recognized.
