Shirt S 5 </ e is a s EXTRACT FROM LETTER TO MISS BEARD FROM MISS MacLACHLAN April 26, 1943 ( L On April 9 Mr. Houghton, Special Representative for the Red Cross, presented L F list of the nurses who are delinquent in reimbursing the Red Cross for their loans. six me There a were thirty-eight (38) nurses names on that list and of those there are only (6) whom I could really say were delinquent. These were: isc. c. Amount Due Vera Clarke. $ 28.68 Helen Haylow. 300.00 Mabel Richardson 300.00 3 Lucile Shields 9.68 Alice Wood 17.09 Elizabeth Wright. 25.00 These girls have been here long encugh to have met their obligations. I have has contacted them and have not received a report from Mr. Houghten as to whether or not he received the money. A MARIE CARLSON was listed. I can find no record of her having been with the units at any time. There is an Ella Garlson who is to come, but has not yet arrived. Katherine M. Harrison was listed as owing $28.49, and on April 14th she was issued a refund, so there seems to be some mistake there. 5
