EXTRACT OF LETTER FROM MISS MARJORIE STOREY,
5th General Hospital, A.P.O. 519 A.N.C.
New York City, N.Y., to Miss Dunbar,
March 15, 1943.
I want to assure you that I have never regretted
joining the army over here. I do appreciate your concern.
It was particularly discouraging at first. because so much
that Miss Phillips had been working to accomplish seemed
to be slipping. The news is more hopeful now.
Since I wrote you at Christmas time, we substituted
at the Red Cross Hospital for ten days with some of the
Churchill Hospital nurses. Everybody there made us feel
members of the family. There have been many changes but a
nucleus of the class keeps the spirit the same. It was
interesting to see how simply and effectively the procedures
were carried out at the hospital and to have English soldiers,
civilians and even children, as patients. In one way or another,
many of the 5th General Staff have visited the hospital either
a.s patients deluxe or as consultants. Colonel Hazzard has been
particularly interested in the laboratories. He one of the most
popular men in the group.
