February 14th, 1918. Mies Margaret Thomas, Chelsea, Wisconsin. Dear liadam: This le to confirm the arrangements which we understand have been mede with you by the Bureau of Nursing Service. Your salary le to be $60.00 per month, dating from "arch lst, 1918. We are to allow you for your traveling expenses to New York. The Red Cross has arranged to pay your transportation expenses from liew York to Bordeaux. An allowance of $3.00 per day will be givon to you while in New York, this allowance, however, will only be extended to you for three days prior to the proposed date of sailing. We underetend the question of allowance for your equipment and uniform has been covered by your correspondemee with the Nurses' Bureau. Arrangements will be mode to pay for your living expenses while abrosd. In the event that you wish to make en assignment of part of your salary to anyone in the United States, we would reigest that you indicate such assignment on the attached to rma and return at your earliest convenience. We call your attention to the fact that thie is the only form that cen be accested by the Treasury Tepartment here for making disbrusemente of ealary in the Unitod States. If you will report to our New York Office, regarding the expenses which you have incurred in this country, as per the above outline, you will be reimbursod for the full amount.
